FAQ
WILL THE PROGRAM BE HELD IN-PERSON OR VIRTUALLY?
All meetings will be on Zoom and our final Symposium will be in-person, with VIRTUAL alternative options available for emergencies.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
SREI x NGS is open to all high school students, ages 14-18. Students do not need to attend a high school from the Irvine Unified School district. Since the program is now online, students will be responsible for obtaining a device that can utilize the Zoom meeting platform.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN AN APPLICANT?
Our program aims to accommodate high school students who possess a keen interest in beginning research and are committed to personal growth and academic exploration. With that being said, we are an introductory research program and no prior research experience is necessary. We welcome students who have a strong desire to actively participate in all facets of our program and who are eager to engage collaboratively.
IS SREI ASSOCIATED WITH UC IRVINE?
SREI x NGS is an independent summer program that has no affiliation with UC Irvine. However, many of the staff and the presenters are UCI students and faculty.
WHAT DO STUDENTS RECEIVE AT THE COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM?
Aside from the invaluable experience and knowledge gained from active participation and attendance, students will also receive a certificate of completion at the conclusion of their internship that will be sent to them digitally. Additionally, students will receive a letter of recommendation from Dr. Andrea Nicholas, the Director of the SREI program.
